If I were a Muslim, They would call me a terrorist!

James Eagan Holmes - Who shot dead 12 people and injured 58 - Photo REUTERS

On the eve of July 20th 2012, in Colorado James Eagan Holmes walked in to the theatre during the screening of The Dark Knight Rises and started firing on the audience. Although many people managed to save their lives, 12 were killed and 58 injured in the incident.
After the event when the shooter was recognized as a white American and a distinguished University graduate, the guns of the media were altogether down and no one from the media called him terrorist or extremist.
The fact is that he really was an intelligent student, who showed no obvious signs of containing such madness. If he wasn't an illegal alien, or if he wasn’t a drug abusing gang member, is the media supposed to skew the facts in some false attempt at equality? And as I have asked before, how is this providing Holmes a more positive public image?
This biased attitude of the western media is not new and it shows the direction of the ideology behind the driving force of the international media as the terms terrorist and extremist are all reserved for Muslims, Arabs and Blacks.

Windows 8 - Really reimagined?

A few days back Microsoft has released a Consumer Preview of its upcoming Windows 8, the release is available for download on the website. After having an experience of the Consumer Preview, there are few things which are worth mentioning.

It starts off with a beautifully designed start screen, with loads of options on a single touch, basically the interface has been designed to be compatible with both touch screens and desktops etc. Having a similar kind of OS for all devices like computers, tablets and mobiles seems to be inspired from Apple's IOS, where we have seen the same kind of operating systems for all devices. Microsoft for the first time has come up with this idea, which seems quite good and attractive.

Another addition to Microsoft Windows is the Windows Store, which again is something in trend nowadays, like all the major operating systems are offering an official place where the users can buy their favorite Apps for their OS, so its a good addition finally to the Windows.

In this version of Windows, the web becomes wonderful, introducing the all new Internet Explorer 10 is simply amazing. Its really fast and fun in browsing the internet, even on the low end PCs the browser works absolutely fine. And guess what, the web is already full screen, Windows 8 promises to change the working habits of PC users keeping away useless things and only focusing on what the user needs.

The interface of the operating system has been upgraded to a whole new level, no words needed to describe that I guess.

The old desktop is still there keeping in mind the older applications which are still not compatible with Windows 8.

And to add more, there are some key features which are worth mentioning here. Microsoft has integrated the sky drive right into the home screen which means access to the cloud has become on the finger tips without having to login again and again.

The user accounts have been integrated with the windows live ID (Microsoft ID) which means the users can have the same settings, apps and personalization on all Windows 8 devices they use (desktop, netbook, tablet, mobile etc.)
The most important thing, this version of windows is really fast. Excellent startup time, faster execution of apps, better performance and beautiful interface.

Finally it can be said that Windows 8 is one step ahead than any OS in the market at the moment. Now we should keep eyes on other competitors as this version of Windows is surely going to grab some market share in real terms.

Responsibilities of Media. Is breaching someone's privacy a moral act?

During the last decade, electronic media of Pakistan has been given a lot of freedom by the Government, and it is absolutely fine for the sake of freedom of speech. But today the direction of media specially the news channels badly needs to be addressed. There are a very few anchors which are playing their role with responsibility, the rest of the market is full of non-trained and unprofessional people who are only in pursuit of Rating nothing else.
Recently a morning show host created a hype by actually raiding dating couples on live camera. After watching that only one thing comes into mind, is is ethical to expose someone like this in front of millions and billions of people???

Are these media personnel unaware of camera ethics? Where one can't record someone without his/her consent. There suold be a proper training and qualification before employing someone into such kind of job at electronic media. Do have a look at the videos as well.
